Phase Two: Picture of Spiders

Warning: This post WILL contain pictures of spiders!
I’m sure some people may wonder why I am warning people of this, well to me it’s pretty simple. People who have a phobia of spiders WILL indeed need a warning!!

Hello again, I will now be going on to stage two of my fear ladder, looking at pictures of spiders.

Current Fear Level: 8

So these pictures are not helping me feel any less scared of spiders…especially when google images shows you pictures like this…:

Now I am freaking out a bit…..

So I continue looking at pictures, then I come across what looks like a spider cricket, WE HAVE SOME OF THESE IN OUR HOUSE! And they FREAK ME OUT!

Primarily they freak me out because they look like spiders, AND they jump!

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this, but all bugs freak me out, except ants…lol

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! I hate spiders. I hate spiders. I hate spiders. Google images hates me. Florida hates me. Maybe we’ll just go to North Carolina….

Current fear level: 4

My fear is a bit still up there, we will continue with the pictures stage the next time I post!

Phase One: Spider Facts

Hello again! I will begin with stage one on the fear ladder, I will read some facts about Spiders and I will share them on here.

Let’s get to work!!

(I want to make a note that this site is helping me a lot with figuring out how to overcome my phobia:

Current Fear Level: 6

Reading up facts about spiders in itself is not scary, however, I know that while I am trying to find information about spiders, I will definitely come across some pictures of spiders which I am not supposed to do until phase 2. I am very nervous to see pictures of spiders.

Okay so I have officially begun, and I must say, I WAS RIGHT! I am seeing all kinds of pictures of spiders, I have to breath and remind myself that they are only pictures though.

Here is one website I am currently on :

So far I’ve learned a few things, the black widow spider eats her mate after they have babies, thus making her a “Widow”. Their bites are obviously ones that you want to avoid. I’ve learned that spiders have 6-8 eyes, but no ears, as they listen using sound vibrations.

As I’m reading, I feel as though spiders are crawling on me, typically because my head is making me feel this way, but they are not! (obviously)

Current Fear Level: 1

I am no longer fearful when it comes to reading about spiders, and as I read about them, I realized it wasn’t too bad just to read about them.

I would like to begin Phase 2 soon, and I will! 🙂

So now I come to an end of this post, and I will keep you updated on my progress :).

Introduction, shall we?

Hello and welcome to my blog! I do not expect to get absolutely any followers or fans in the process of creating my blog, as this is a creation of my personal journey towards unleashing and defeating my Arachnophobia (side note: should I be capitalizing Arachnophobia?? I don’t know! It looks better capitalized so we will go with that!).

Let me introduce myself (to myself right? Since I plan on having no followers! Ah well, just in case, here we go):

My name is Kristina and I am 21 and 3/4 years old. I live in the 2nd smallest state and I JUST graduated from college with my bachelors in Elementary Education (WOO HOO!!!) and am in the process of pursuing different teaching/assistant teaching positions until I find my perfect job! I am currently in a (almost) 5 year relationship with my best friend, my boyfriend. We plan on moving to Florida in exactly 1 year and 3 months. This all sounds wonderful and great, except that I’ve done my research and Florida is one of the top states for bugs, which means spiders……

I am very tempted to tell my boyfriend that I am unable to move to Florida because there will be a lot of spiders, but that sounds kind of extreme. My plan? Overcome this fear.

I plan on using this blog to help me in overcoming my fear. I will keep track of my progress as the days go by, and I will make note of what I am doing each day (exposing myself to pictures, videos, etc) and I will also be sharing the resources I use (yes I will be posting big scary pictures and videos of spiders, which gives me the chills to even think about). I will be taking this one step at a time though. If anyone is actually reading this, please feel free to take this journey with me, very very slowly but very very effectively.

That’s really all that I have for you (or me- if no one is reading) right now! I will continue to post my progress day-by-day! 🙂
